Your email and the region you choose are encrypted before they touch our database, using NaCl sealed boxes — the same public-key cryptography family Signal and WireGuard rely on (X25519 key exchange + XSalsa20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption).
The web servers that handle this Subscribe form only carry the encryption (public) key — they have no ability to decrypt anything they receive.
What this means in practice: a database leak alone yields no readable data — every email and region is opaque ciphertext.
We don't share, sell, or analyze your address. We send the Sunday digest, the rare instant alert, and an unsubscribe link in every message. That's the entire deal.
We plan for the worst, but we work quite hard to avoid any kind of leakage where we'd have to fall back on this final security control.
